Electro Optical Testing Applications
Optical sensors are commonly used for a wide range of applications, such as defense and surveillance, industrial process inspection, human temperature monitoring, Earth observation, etc. Most of these rely on accurate test equipment during their manufacturing and need certified calibrations and qualification.
THERMAL IMAGERS
Range of detection, recognition and identification through MRTD curve… high end test benches are necessary for thermal imagers qualification.
THERMOGRAPHIC CAMERA CALIBRATION
Calibration of thermographic cameras requires the use of wide temperature range and the most accurate blackbodies. Thanks to their radiometric calibration and their high uniformity, these blackbodies ensure a complete traceability of the thermographic data.
SPACE & EARTH OBSERVATION
In order to meet the calibration requirements of sensors and instruments embedded in satellite missions, space grade sensor manufacturers need vacuum compatible blackbodies to accurately calibrate and carefully qualify the instruments including thermal imagers and other infrared sensors such as radiometers or spectrometers
DETECTORS / IR CORES PRODUCTION LINES
Operating 24/7 blackbodies used to test detectors and core on production line must be reliable, traceable and accurate. Their structure allows them to be operated into narrow spaces, random orientation and possibly into climatic chambers. They can be easily remotely driven from the line management software.
FOCAL PLAN ARRAY TESTING
The measurement of the optical performances of detectors requires extremely low noise driving electronics and acquisition module. During development phase, the FPA testing must also be compatible with any CMOS type detector.
MULTI AXES SYSTEM TESTING
Multi-axes systems are found on gimbals, drones and helicopters among others and include visible and low light cameras, thermal imager and laser rangefinder. Each individual axe of equipment has to be tested in addition to the alignment test between axes using large aperture collimators and multiple accessories.
NIGHT VISION DEVICE TESTING
Night Vision Devices (NVD), are mandatory and need to perform any times on the battlefield. Accurate testing of equipment strictly stick to the primary military standards. Spatial resolution, spot defect, gain, and distortion are tests performed with single low light Integrating Sphere or a complete collimator.
MAINTENANCE & ON-FIELD APPLICATION OF EO TESTING
Maintenance benches of on-field light electro-optical equipment must provide fast setup, easy to use and simplified operation while allowing accurate measurement of spatial and thermal resolution, detection and recognition range and alignment between axes.
